Rojak Buah

I’m not sure whether Rojak Buah can be considered as fruit salad. With the full array of different types of fruits mixed in together I think it can be considered as one but with the dressing as hot and spicy and salty like this? huhu! Maybe it is a fruit salad Malaysian style – who can live without the spicy taste even on fruits..hehe!

I noticed that most of the fruits chosen to be in Rojak Buah is either not ripe but crunchy like guava and papaya, or sourish like belimbing and pineapple and definitely sour like green mango, kedondong and whatnot. Of course the usual bunch like sengkuang and timun.

I think what makes a rojak buah very tasty is the gravy – the otak udang type, or the one you make yourself by blending dried chilli, cut cili padi, sugar, salt, belacan and kicap.

And what I like the most is the grounded peanuts they sprinkle on top of the mixed rojak buah. It reminds me of the old days when we went berkelah and after the swim and splash at the air terjun, there will be one stall selling rojak buah and everyone will queue up to buy rojak to eat in the car on the ride home..good food brings happy memories, huh!

  1. Looks really tasty. Perhaps with some cream or, better, ice cream, would help to top it off.

But then again, I am a bit of a pig when it comes to exotic fruit and deserts!
