I never cook nangka muda before..yup I know, I’ve eaten the dish, well, the many version of nangka muda dishes, be it gulai berempah, or masak lemak cili api.
So to take a challenge, to learn to cook a never-before-cooked-dish, at least one new dish a month, I bought nangka muda at Carrefour. There were 3 slices in a packet and I have no idea what I should do with it.
I remember listening to SIL about how you are supposed to boil nangka muda until empuk (you have to soften the young jackfruit) before you can proceed with the next step in cooking.
So I cut them into smaller pieces and boiled in a pot, but since I was busy cleaning up other stuffs like fish, prawn, chicken that I bought, I didn’t check whether those nangka muda pieces were soft enough.
Lesson learnt, next time boil your nangka muda for at least 15 minutes to make sure they are empuk (soft enough).
