Last month we went to Singapore to visit friends who were migrating to Canada and we managed to spend the next 3 days eating and sightseeing.
I saw this stall in MakanSutra TV show and as it was near to the hotel we stayed, we managed to have lunch there during our first day. Nasi padang is a set of dish originated from Indonesia with rice eaten with several type of spicy dishes. One common dish would be the lemak nangka – tender young jackfruit stewed in a coconut gravy. I chose to have their stir-fried tempeh as well. If you like vegetables, try their urap – a crunchy, refreshing beansprout salad.
I love this botok botok tenggiri as it is quite hard to find it in KL. It is mackerel steamed with ulam like tapioca leaves, young papaya leaves and daun kaduk – Wild Pepper leaves and limau purut leaves (kaffir lime) for extra aroma. Of course there is spice added.
Where to have this nasi padang dishes? Take the MRT to Paya Lebar and walk towards the Geylang Serai wet market. There is a food court there. It is said that if you want to have the warm and freshest cooked food, be there before 1pm. Here is the full address:
